Brian Duffield’s sophomore directorial effort, “No One Will Save You,” follows his lesser-known debut in “Spontaneous.” While it doesn’t quite match his previous work’s brilliance, the film offers a unique twist on the alien invasion genre. It introduces us to Brynn, a reclusive woman with anxiety, whose life takes a bizarre turn when her home is invaded by otherworldly creatures. Kaitlyn Dever’s exceptional performance as Brynn carries the film.
The movie kicks off with strong pacing and tension, immediately drawing viewers in. Duffield’s direction skillfully builds suspense, making certain moments incredibly gripping. Although the film’s momentum wanes in the later stages, it remains a solid watch with a runtime just over 90 minutes.
Dever shines in a physically demanding role, demonstrating her versatility. The film’s visual effects are impressive, used judiciously to enhance the story.
